The 10th annual Manu o Kū Festival was held on Saturday, 3 May 2025, at ‘Iolani Palace Coronation Lawn.  The Kula Nai’a Foundation was honored to be invited to participate in the event.  This gave us a chance to share some of our educational materials and books that focus on native Hawaiian seabirds.

There was a great turnout and lots of interest in our offerings at the Kula Nai’a Foundation booth.   Thanks to the efforts of Bill Roche, we had something for everyone.  We offered adults coasters and magnets with the Kula Naiʻa Foundation logo.   And then for all ages, we had a match-the-dolphin-fin game.  For younger children we had some fun interactive demonstrations that related to the Seabird Egg Book (a series of eggs that were just the right size, weight and coloring for each species in the book) and for the Out on a Limb book we offered a set of puzzles based on the arm, leg, flipper and wing bones of humans, dogs, dolphins and birds.

Here is a short video of our day.

A big hit with everyone was the large banner that showed the actual wing spans for each of the birds mentioned in The Seabird Egg Book.  In speaking to educators and teachers, we were encouraged by the enthusiasm and interest in the books as well as the literacy and math resources that we have developed so far.   So, we are moving forward with developing more lesson plans, activities and of course, the next seabird chick book.  The Great RFB will be coming out soon!
